Our everyday life: week 46

Very few photos this week as we have basically been sick with nasty colds and haven’t been that busy! We did look to buy a house, but it had sold (within 4 days!) before we could make an offer. Sad!

First gingerbread man? Not sure which limb to munch first ;)

20131111_164037

C has a notebook which we draw in together. On each page there is at least one lorry, obsessed!

IMG_2784

New smile! I think it’s adorable :)

IMG_2789

Our one trip out this week was one we couldn’t cancel! A work charity quiz night, which was actually quite good fun. To top it off, we came 3rd out of 25 teams – my big boss was there too, phew! They served a ploughmans meal halfway through whilst we tried to identify random celebrities.

20131116_205455

Nanny knitted C a new cardigan – it fits!

IMG_2811

Pink Panther paid C a flying visit (thanks to Daddy ;) )

IMG_2825

Hope you have a happy and healthy week – we need one too!!

Our everyday life: week 45

It’s amazing what young C finds on his travels around the house…

IMG_2738

…he absolutely did Mess with Texas though, sorry Chucky!

IMG_2740

Fighting some bugs = smoothie for dinner.

IMG_2743

I love that he built this tower without us realising – really growing up tooooooo fast.

IMG_2749

Work dinner and drinks on Friday – expensive, but fun! My friend tagged along too ;)

20131108_202729-001

…2 for £8 before 9pm…sensible accountants stocked up just in time ;) Yummy.

20131108_205922-001

Made a random crumble with leftover roasted butternut – not bad, not bad!

IMG_2764

Best way to spend the (early) mornings :)

20131006_164501-001

“Girl” likes to spend her time reading books about baking, apparently.

IMG_2757

A good spot to be when it’s raining miserably!

20131109_153652-001

We really miss having chickens. They would have happily gobbled this all up for us. I wouldn’t have told them that these veggies went in chicken pie, though.

Our everyday life: week 44

Learning all about Connect 4 with his Uncle and Aunt.

20131102_151659

Bake n Shake date night! This marked C’s first night away from us, waaah! We went out for a quick dinner and then saw The Duck House (before it’s West End debut). Really funny play, go see it if you can!

20131101_192802

Making play-dough animals – horse, right?

IMG_2696

Halloween week – so many children celebrating down our road. It was pretty special! Oh, and spot the figs?

20131102_105610

“UH OH”.

20131102_165433

I HATE this slide. C LOVES to watch the big kids on it. It’s only a matter of time…p.s. beautiful day.

20131104_145423

Feeding time at the pond :)

20131104_152128

So sweet to spend time with my little man watching the ducks. Lucky mama.

Our everyday life: week 43

It was a lovely morning for a trip to the park, until it started raining (understatement!).

20131026_093726

Instead, we went to a lovely café, drank coffee, ate blueberry cake, read “Where the wild things are” and barked at dogs (C, not me ;))

20131026_101122

These poor ducks needed rescuing from the sandpit.

IMG_2603

Lovely colour on a gloomy day(s).

IMG_2604

Oops, look what I found. Sorry C&C, we did mean to take better care of these tomatoes…

IMG_2607

More rainy park-time.

20131027_134040

After a few days of C basically eating nothing, I was over the moon when he demolished lasagne!

IMG_2625

Circle bongo session!

20131027_130530

Fig cake in the making.

IMG_2639

With Shake away for the weekend, I spent my evenings in my PJs, eating toasted brioche with speculoos, knitting and watching trash (Grey’s Anatomy, I love it!).

20131027_201129

Wishing you all a happy and healthy week!

Our everyday life: week 42

So Shake baked this week! Joy’s sweet potato chocolate chip cookies. No one could guess there was a vegetable in there! Insanely good.

IMG_2593

C is getting artsy at nursery!

IMG_2558

Although he would rather suck the straw…

IMG_2553

Sugar free (ish - you can see the dark chocolate chips!) banana granola bars. Yummy!

IMG_2528

Shake is studying to finish (after, uh, seven years?) his OU degree so is waking at 5am EVERY DAY to study before C and I get up. As his reward, he bought a coffee machine and makes me a latte when I eventually get up (at 6am, I’m not that lazy!).

IMG_2575

Morning coffee with a serenade from C.

IMG_2541

At least someone appreciates rain. PUDDLES (and cute new coat – thank you non-god parents)

20131020_160309

One of my very oldest friends sent me a dvd completely out of the blue from when we were 8. 1992. I feel OLD!

IMG_2571

Shake and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary this week! I couldn’t be luckier. X

IMG_2555

We shared a couple of treats :)

IMG_2554

C found a tape measure (don’t ask!) and I found him measuring things around the house. Adorable.

IMG_2583

Knitting for my dear friend’s baby girl – she is outgrowing the booties I made last year!

IMG_2561

Something for my cousin – a little Dutch treat for when she visits us :)

Our everyday life: week 40 & week 41

We haven’t completely disappeared from the face of the earth, honest!!

Anyway, here we go:

Autumn has definitely arrived, but we are still enjoying some outdoor snack time

20131002_153316
Dinner out with my boys, Daddy Pig and lots of colouring pencils. Giraffe is so family friendly!20131005_180842
Another cousin has moved to London! Another reason to visit some new places, parks included. Fulham did well :)
20131006_164501
Last week we visited my parents in France. Whilst C didn’t have as many toys there as he would at home, he seemed perfectly amused playing with walnuts ;) Crazy child!
20131009_112251
An awesome vintage cookbook my mum found in her village. I especially loved seeing old photographs, postcards etc. tucked inside (just as we do with our own cookbooks).
20131010_093643
A return trip to this café – much grumpier child this time, but still lovely to check it out again. We also bought a delicious apple tart for dinner.
20131008_140421
Reading some of our favourite childhood stories to our own child – surreal.
20131012_171831
LORRY! LORRY! LORRY!
20131012_103235
My mum is a truly fab cook and I was pretty jealous of the guests of hers who enjoyed her plum tart!
20131012_162945
C amazingly charmed all the gentlemen of the village. I only wish I had a photo of them pretending to be ballerinas ;)
20131010_184320
I baked traditional scones and a Victoria sponge for a typical English tea party for friends of my parents. Together with cucumber sandwiches, homemade jam and lots of tea, the French seemed pretty impressed :)
20131011_163418
Such lovely weather for October!
20131011_141803 (1)
We love Plane trees. Don’t you think they are pretty?
20131011_141750 (1)
One of the closest playgrounds to us in France. C had a blast!!
20131009_150838
Last meal in France before flying home. Terrible, aren’t we?
20131012_193330
Someone didn’t want us to leave…
20131013_063835
Toulouse airport – teeny tiny coloured lights between these wooden slats. Funky.

Our everyday life: week 39

An extra guest at the dinner table this week ;)

20130925_170513

This glass shelf, and those frames, fell on top of me for no reason the other night. I was in shock for a while! Well done Ikea and your shatterproof glass. Phew!

IMG_2495

Enjoying the sunset on the train to London. Trying to avoid eye-contact with the drunkard who sat next to me (on an empty train…).

20130926_180329

I was actually on the train to meet this awesomely sweet lady. I hate to add a photo of myself, but I don’t want to forget about meeting one of my idols :) One night in London for her cookbook tour – so lucky I was online at the right time to snap up a ticket.

20130926_200054

Several lovely London bloggers made goodies from the book for the evening. Menu included: Brownie roll-out cookies (a huge fan of these), red wine velvet cake, peanut butter and chocolate cookies, coffee toffee (delicious!), blackberry polenta cake and plenty more. I only wish I had room to try them all.

20130926_200513

The following day I had even MORE cake at our work Macmillan bake sale. I made a chocolate Guinness cake (because it’s the best) and double chocolate cookies, but also had to sample what everyone else made too…

20130927_133805

I have a poorly laptop :( I am temporarily using Shake’s teeny weeny spare laptop. I don’t understand how to use it (touchscreen?) so I will be amazed if this post even works!

20130927_213050

My dad sent me this as a surprise in the post! My childhood best friend – Humpty Dumpty. For a few minutes I felt like a baby again, but then C took it off my hands!

20130928_063837

Much needed park trip to burn off some feisty energy ;)

20130930_085918

Charity shop bargain – we love these mugs! My Uncle told me these are the type that he and my mum would have been embarrassed to have had at home (in the 70s). Hehe.

IMG_2524

My sweet cousin moving into her Uni dorms. The girl did good! She deserves it, too. Note C sleeping in the corner!

20130929_130007

We had such a delicious lunch here, simple but just what we were all craving! I also love that my Uncle came here when he was a student.

20130929_133722

See, told you it was delicious (and healthy!).

IMG_20130929_134603

First real train ride – loved it! Sorry fellow passengers…but at least he was friendly :)

20130929_160220

Wow! This was a busy week.

Our everyday life: week 38

So many cars, so little time

20130918_094539

Please Mama, no more dinner!

20130918_171505

Fifty shades…

20130919_192645

Shake, my cousin and I went to see Joe Pug (on a school night!). He was adorable! Plus, harmonica whilst playing the guitar? Skills!

20130919_211905

Stage 7 of the tour ended in our home town! Bright and early preparations began, it was a shame we had to miss seeing it, but we had some family time instead.

20130921_090648

After a night with not enough sleep Shake and I treated ourselves to HUGE cups of coffee and a mini millionaire’s tart, and C to a scone and jam. He basically just licked the jam ;)

20130921_092703

Lovely way to end Sunday lunch – my Norwegian sister-in-law’s Eplekake. Plus their dishes are beautiful, don’t you think?

Our everyday life: week 37

I think we may be venturing into the land of “terrible twos” 6 months early…C wasn’t allowed a grape, after honestly eating about 15, and this is how he responded. Oh dear!

IMG_2454

In a bid to cheer us both up, went for a mummy/son coffee (cookie) date! I love these oat, pecan and chocolate cookies and am still yet to make my own version. Slacker!

IMG_20130911_152311

I made a lemon and yoghurt loaf the other night when Shake was out. Two days later I decided the best thing for it was french toast. We added bananas which makes it healthy, right? Insanely good Saturday morning breakfast!

IMG_2464

Helping Shake with some measuring :)

IMG_2466

Shake made this box as a spare seat and storage for C’s blankets, but the lid came off and we decided it was time for a change. Notice the blanket I knitted when we found out we were having a baby but didn’t know the flavour :)

IMG_2477

This canvas makes us laugh. We have had it far too long and Shake has never had the right time to paint something. It has little marks here and there so quite a few visitors have thought it was meant to look like this – like we have extremely obnoxious artistic taste ;)

IMG_2480

Off to see some friends for Sunday lunch. I made chocolate guinness cake (but later topped it with cream cheese frosting). It really is so good and reminds me what a good choice it was for our wedding cake!

IMG_2486

Last minute trip to Ikea. View from the Ergo! Found the cutest cake stand at a bargain price. Happy!

20130915_133324

So for Sunday lunch we not only had my cake, but our friends made an awesome chocolate cherry trifle (inspired by a recent GBBO episode). Too much for 4 people…

20130915_152507

…especially as they made one (booze-free) for C too!!

Our everyday life: week 36

Ok, so he does still occasionally make a little mess, but I just adore how he now holds his bowl with one hand to scoop with the other :)

IMG_2409

C was invited to a friend’s birthday party and we met Peppa! Literally ALL the kids screamed hysterically – I can’t say I blame them…!

IMG_20130907_153138

Lovely day-trip to see a dear friend in Bristol. The weather wasn’t great, but it was still a stunning view from the Clifton suspension bridge.

20130908_121051

Found this newly-opened cute restaurant for brunch – C loved the décor!

20130908_105508

We found plenty of Gromits on the loose

20130908_133149

…including this fave from Gerald Scarfe.

20130908_135419

HI!

20130908_133743

There was so much to see around the city, even better plenty for FREE including the M-Shed which had a really interesting photography exhibit and plenty to keep C amused (teeny tiny ships!).

20130908_142100

Walking his puppy ;)

IMG_2448

Playing with fish fingers. But seriously, you should really check out the Sainsbury’s basic fish fingers – MSC fish, sustainable palm oil, they aren’t the tastiest (of course) but for 60p for 10 you can’t really complain! *not a sponsored post!!*
