Our everyday life: week 18 & week 19

My Friday nights usually look like this, with a Joy the Baker podcast soundtrack :)

IMG_1033

I swear he is better at tidying than I am…

IMG_1036

So in love with these curls. Can’t bring myself to have them trimmed.

IMG_1114

Shake brought one cat home from France :)

IMG_1119

Not impressed with the stair gate

IMG_1128

If you follow us on twitter you’ll know we found out AFTER we moved in that the house doesn’t have an oven. Sob. Instead, we have a microwave/oven combination thing. This book needs to be studied. I am scared.

IMG_1132

Bed yet to be constructed, but cookbooks organised. Priorities, people.

IMG_1141

Normality and recipes will resume someday soon, I hope!!

Our everyday life: week 17

I have been useless this week – failed to charge 2 cameras properly and missed many photo opportunites out and about this weekend. Check us out on instagram for a few more snaps…

We inherited some train tracks and vehicles from the cousins this week, but think it may have been too soon!

IMG_0956

They are better to chew on than play with…

IMG_0961

More chewing (urgh more teeth!) but at least this time it’s in the sunshine

IMG_0973

“Here mama, a flower”

IMG_0997

Thrilled that I let him hold my mug. Confused that there was no coffee left inside ;)

IMG_1007

Spot the odd Ted out?

IMG_1030

Godparents bought him a drum. Spent a fab weekend in London with them :)

P1070001

Checking out the meerkats at Battersea Children’s Zoo (highly recommend!) just before camera died.

P1070008

Shake is going to France this weekend to fetch our worldly goods and I will start moving us to our new home, busy busy…

IMG_0814

Happy cows

IMG_0853

Friendly faces?

IMG_0876

Kiddie heaven. So nice to be outdoors all day for free :)

IMG_0877

We really made the most of the free weekend and came here the following day

IMG_0935

Contrasting floors – fancy tiles for the ladies of the house in their “kitchen”, stone floor for the cooks in the actual kitchen

IMG_0951

Not too shabby

Our everyday life: week 15

One of our new baby groups is at this school. Last week Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman were there filming their new movie. Fancy!

P1060620

Trying to recreate my beloved Pret Double berry muffins.

IMG_0631

C got to grips with his cup this week :)

IMG_0652

Chicken pie for my boys. Perfect for this miserable weather!

IMG_0675

Daddy always knows how to make him laugh :)

IMG_0733

Funny how changing high chairs has changed my days. No nasty plastic to scrub. Nowhere for little bits to get stuck. Amazing! Thanks ebay.

IMG_0770

What do you mean don’t play with the records? It’s a gift, for you!

IMG_0771

Shake made me pizza

IMG_0773

It was delicious!

IMG_0781

Still loving his lentil lasagne – recipe for you one day…

Our everyday life: week 14

It has been so bitterly cold, but on Easter Monday we dragged ourselves out for a visit to The Sustainability Centre. We love it here.

P1060561

You can’t really see it, but there was snow falling…

P1060582

C found his nanny’s stash of wool and dragged it all around. Oops – he knows Daddy is not amused!

P1060583

Falling asleep during lunch, poor thing!

P1060585

After visiting my Grandma we went out to this cute place – love the lightshades!

P1060595

My perfect kind of meal – lots of things to dip and pick at :) (and share with C too!)

Baby Led Weaning = Constant Cleaning. Plus, turns out C is not a fan of mango.

1

New routine of breakfast smoothies. Really enjoying it so far, Shake is coming up with some awesome combinations.

2

Tastes much better than it looks, honest!

3

If you know me you know I am a messy cook. It was about time I bought an apron.

P1060435

Baking Baharat - smelling delicious.

P1060458

Our everyday life: week 11

I realised as I was tidying the other night that by my side of the bed is an empty glass of whiskey, red wine, coffee and (fortunately) some water…healthy!

P1060365

C loving his birthday cleaning set. He does a better job than his Mama ;)

P1060369

When he is quiet you know he is doing something pickly, like getting stuck under his cot.

P1060390

Luckily for us C slept for a fair bit of our journey back to the UK. Angel, right?

P1060394

Dinner! Surprisingly tasty sandwich (and maybe a mini-doughnut).

P1060399

Stupid hotel didn’t provide a cot. Stupid parents didn’t fit one in the car. C slept between two single beds on a mattress surrounded by luggage. Eventually, that is…

P1060406

Ah Paris! You are so beautiful. Hmm. Can you spot the Eiffel Tower?

P1060415

The charms of the périphérique

P1060416 P1060421

Another service station meal – roast chicken, ratatouille, carrots and some of Shake’s aligot.  Not bad, not bad at all.

P1060422 P1060423

Weird photo, but it was such a novelty to have a lovely, clean baby-changing room!

P1060424

Snow! Miserable weather! Must be nearer to England now!

P1060425

Waiting to board our train, admiring the turbines.

Our everyday life: week 10

After days of rain (most unusual here) the room we had stored our packing flooded…great start to the week ;)

P1060025

C’s first taste of lavashak

P1060062

C loves to hide toys under things and then ask you to fetch them. Of course Mama humours him!

P1060063

Hazelnuts, pre-roasting.

P1060069

Post-roast and lazily peeled. There were so many!

P1060070

C in love with his reflection…

P1060105

…and also in love with the dog!

P1060132

It was Mother’s Day in the UK on Sunday, but it’s in May in France, so technically I miss both. However, I did get a sweet little card (with some help from Papa!).

P1060178

Hazelnuts used in this birthday cake, as well as two jars of nutella (notella?)

P1060228

I think he enjoyed his birthday cake :)

Our everyday life: week 9

We returned from the UK to a few days of snow – beautiful.

P1050952

The village caretaker/hero, clearing the roads.

P1050954

P1050971

We have also spent a lot of time hiding :)

P1050980

Potato love

P1050997

Someone is a better cleaner than his mama

P1060003

Saturday treat – mini chocolate beignets

P1060009

Ahem – another treat. These cocoa brownies really are chewy, fudgy heaven.

P1060012

Progress! Will accept water from glass if held for him.

P1060021

Apple cake for family Sunday lunch. Delicious, but completely fell apart out of the tin. Oh well.
